Kanchanjungha Express upgraded to modern LHB Coaches for passenger comfort in Tripura

In a significant step towards enhancing passenger convenience, the Kanchanjungha Express (Sealdah–Sabroom) has been upgraded from the older Integral Coach Factory (ICF) coaches to modern Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches. The transformation is expected to provide improved safety, comfort, and amenities for long-distance rail travelers in Tripura.

The introduction of LHB coaches marks a major development in railway services for the state, ensuring smoother rides, better seating arrangements, and enhanced security features compared to the conventional ICF coaches.

Expressing gratitude for the initiative, Tripura’s Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury extended heartfelt thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for their role in bringing this modern facility to the people of Tripura.

Chowdhury stated that the move reflects the government’s commitment to improving connectivity and passenger welfare, particularly for those traveling on one of the state’s most important long-distance routes.

"The upgrade of the Kanchanjungha Express is expected to significantly benefit rail commuters, reinforcing Tripura’s integration with the national railway modernization drive", he added.
