Khet Mazdoor Union holds protest rally

Belonia, Aug 1: In support of the 28-point demands, Belonia unit of Khet Mazdoor Union organized a protest rally in Belonia on Monday.
The rally commenced from the CPI-M Belonia Sub-divisional party office and roamed across several places of Belonia.
Later, the supporters and leaders held a street corner meeting on several issues including an increase in the price of goods.
During the meeting, Dipankar Sen, a member of the Central Committee of Khet Mazdoor Union, said the Tripura Khet Mazdoor Union is conducting agitations for a long time as there is no work under Rega scheme.
He alleged that the Rega workers did not get their wages even after working for a few days.
During the protest meeting, Sen discussed the 28-point of demands.
The demands included- increasing working days under the Rega scheme to 200 man-days and wages to Rs 600.
He also mentioned other demands including repealing the Electricity Amendment Act 2020, stopping politics in providing allowances and housing to poor people, abolishing all taxes on farm labourers and landless, and curbing abnormal price rises.
