Kisan Congress submits 9-point charter for farmers' interests in Dharmanagar

The Tripura Pradesh Kisan Congress on Saturday organized a significant deputation program across the state to press for farmers’ welfare.

The North District Kisan Congress Committee submitted a nine-point memorandum to the Additional District Magistrate, addressed to the Chief Secretary of Tripura, highlighting the daily struggles faced by farmers.

Key demands included enhancement of wages under the rural employment scheme, extension of gate opening hours along the India–Bangladesh border, timely supply of fertilizers and seeds, impartial investigation into crop damage caused by floodlights in border areas, and provision of subsidies proportionate to the losses incurred.

Congress leaders alleged that farmers across the state, particularly those in border regions, have long been suffering from multiple hardships. They urged the government to take immediate and practical measures to resolve these issues.

The delegation included Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee member Chayan Bhattacharjee, district Congress leaders, and several North District Kisan Congress activists. The organization warned that if the demands are not met, larger movements will be launched in the coming days.
