Agartala Nov 16: Tripura Royal scion Pradyot Kishore Deb Barma expressed displeasure over the reply of Union Civil Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia in connection with introduction of announcement in Kokborok language at the MBB Airport.
Posting a copy of the letter received from the Union Minister in his facebook page, Pradyot wrote,” Sabka Saath Kuch Ka Vikas”.
Tipra Motha chairman Pradyot Kishore Deb Barma had sought Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia’s intervention to ensure an announcement in Kokborok language at Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport here.
He had also submitted a letter addressed to the Union Minister after meeting the later at New Delhi on October 31, this year.
Wednesday, a reply to the plea for introduction of Kokborok announcement in the Agartala Airport was received by Pradyot.
The letter read, “I would like to apprise you that in accordance with the extant policy of Airports Authority of India (AAI), the announcements are made at the airports in three languages- one local, Hindi and English”.
“Though, Kokborok and Bengali, both have been declared as state languages by the government of Tripura, Bengali has been preferred for announcements at the airport due to its widespread use in nearby area”, it further read.
The TIPRA Motha chief expressed dismay over the decision.
His facebook caption, “Sabka Sath Kuch Ka Vikas”, goes against the much-hyped slogan of ruling BJP’s “Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas”.
On earlier occasions Pradyot said, “To promote the culture and tradition of Tripura, it is important that we promote its language as well”.
He also added that it will be good if announcement is made in Kokborok at MBB Airport, claiming that Kokborok has been included in the CBSE English medium schools as a subject because of his persistent pressure.
Supporters of TIPRA Motha and followers of Pradyot supported his statement made in the social media adding that, “This is the reason why we have been demanding separate land for us”.
