Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Sunday hailed the Union Budget 2026 and asserted that the budget emphasises on three major pillars which include last mile delivery, inclusive progress and infrastructure development.
In his brief reaction, Dr Saha said, “To be specific, the Union Finance Minister spoke about a new Buddhist circuit for the North East which will benefit states like Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Sikkim, Tripura and Assam. The tourism industry is set to witness a big boost for that. If people visit this part of the land, it will definitely impact the economy positively.”
Stating that he was yet to review the whole budget proposals in detail, Dr Saha said, “Even if you look at different sectors such as health, education and agriculture, the budgetary allocations are satisfactory and forward looking. It has been said that the budget will pave the way for an income boost for every household. Apart from that, AI integration and infusion of new technology have been discussed at length. At the face of it, I feel this is a welfare-centric, forward looking budget that promises a brighter future.”
According to Dr Saha, the budget stands on three major pillars—infrastructure development, Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas (inclusive Growth and progress) and last mile delivery.
“In my understanding, these are the major three pillars of this budget. The Government has announced that e-bus services will be introduced in the North East. Enough importance has been given to empowerment of youth and women. For MSMEs also the budget promises a lot,” he said.
Earlier in a social media post, Dr Saha wrote: “From manufacturing and world-class infrastructure to healthcare and tourism; from empowering rural heartlands to embracing cutting-edge AI; from modern sports arenas to sacred pilgrimage destinations, this Budget ignites the aspirations of our youth, women, and farmers in every village, town, and city, transforming dreams into reality and strengthening the foundation of a self-reliant, globally competitive India.”
He also congratulated PM Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for the budget.Â
