CPIM Politburo Member and Leader of Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury on Wednesday continued his tirade against ARDD Minister Sudhansghu Das and alleged that under the present government, only a handful of BJP leaders, Ministers and MLAs amassed massive wealth while the lion’s share of the saffron party’s voters left at lurch.
Â
“Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas turned out to be lip service. In reality, only a section of BJP leaders, Ministers, MLAs and Mandal office bearers accumulated wealth disproportionate to their original income. They are riding expensive cars. With every passing year, their house is getting bigger and taller. And, those who actually worked for the BJP to ensure electoral success had been thrown out empty handed,” he said.
Â
The CPIM leader was speaking at a rally organised at Barpathari in Belonia after a hiatus of two years. Local CPIM leaders alleged that the rally cum mass deputation drive had been stopped midway because of a Shanti Maha Yajna organised by local BJP leaders. The police prevented the rally from proceeding further towards its destination citing law and order concerns.
Â
The CPIM leaders, in order to avoid further complications, cut short the length of the road which the rally was supposed to cover and conducted a street corner for a very brief period.
Â
“If BJP leaders had courage to fight us politically, they could have organised another political rally tomorrow to counter us and show off their strength with more crowd mobilisation. Unfortunately, they are no longer in the position to fight back politically which is why they try to disrupt our political events,” he claimed.
Â
Hitting out at Tipra Motha and BJP, Chaudhury said, “Leaders like Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh visited Tripura almost everyday before the elections. They are regarded as the holy trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwar. This time even if the holy trinity arrive themselves for the rescue of BJP and Tipra Motha, the imminent electoral drubbing can’t be avoided.”
