On Thursday afternoon, a potentially deadly accident was narrowly avoided at the weekly market in Kalyanpur. Around 12 p.m., when the market area was packed with people, a live electricity conductor suddenly snapped and fell onto the busy road near the Gayaprasadpur PAX colony.
Â
Witnesses reported that electricity service in the area had been disrupted since morning. When power was restored, one of the conductors unexpectedly broke loose, sparking panic among traders and pedestrians. With the market crowded, chaos ensued as people rushed to safety. Fortunately, no major injuries were reported, and many lives were spared by sheer luck.
Â
Local residents expressed outrage over the delayed response from electricity board workers, who arrived only after considerable time had passed, leaving the live wire dangerously exposed.Â
Â
Community members have demanded immediate corrective measures, warning that negligence in maintenance could lead to catastrophic incidents in the future.
