Man held in TN for links with ISIS

New Delhi, Jul 28: Days after a food delivery executive from Assam was arrested in Bengaluru for alleged links with al-Qaida, a 32-year-old man has been arrested in Tamil Nadu for alleged links to militant organisation ISIS.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) grilled Asif Muzabdin for more than 10 hours in Erode.
His arrest comes days after Karnataka’s Central Crime Branch police nabbed a food delivery agent hailing from Assam on the suspicion of radicalising youths and identifying himself with terror outfit al-Qaida.
Akhtar Hussain lived in Bengaluru with three friends since February 2020, according to police.
The raid in Bengaluru was conducted in coordination with the state’s Internal Security Division and the intelligence wing, police said.
Preliminary investigation revealed Hussain came to the city in January 2020 and worked as food delivery boy. A bachelor, he lived with three other delivery boys, also from Assam.
The Crime Branch sleuths detained another Assam-based man from Salem in Tamil Nadu on charges of indulging in terror related activities.
According to sources, the suspect was detained at his Salem residence after Hussain revealed his role in al-Qaeda activities.
