Man held in Tripura for posting communal contents using fake profile

A man was arrested by Tripura Police’s Crime branch unit for posting communal and provocative contents on social media using a fake profile.

According to police, the arrested person- Sudip Debbarma (41) is a resident of Kalyanpur in Khowai district. He used to post the contents impersonating as Rinki Debbarma.

Police said, the arrest was made based on a case registered at West Agartala PS (vide Case No. 2025WAG122, dated 22.10.2025), under sections 196 /197/353/351(2) of BNS.

The account under the name of Rinki Debbarma was used for posting communal and provocative contents aimed at disturbing peace and harmony. The case was transferred to the Cyber Crime unit.

During investigation, the Cyber Crime branch traced the origin of the account and identified the person behind the fake profile. It was revealed that Sudip Debbarma was impersonating as Rinki Debbarma.

After due verification, the individual was arrested by the Cyber Crime unit on Tuesday and produced before the court. He was remanded to police custody for five days.
