Agartala, July 27: The leader of opposition and former Chief Minister of the then Left front government Manik Sarkar lashed out at the ruling BJP government at the centre and state on Wednesday and alleged that the crisis is deepening in the country owing to the unwanted policy of the government.
Sarkar was addressing the 4th annual conference of Tripura Hawkers’ Union here at Bhanu Ghosh Smriti Bhawan at Agartala.
“At a time when the country is reeling under high inflation with the declining purchasing capacity of the people, the economy of the country is debilitated with the falling Indian rupee,” Sarkar said, adding that in that way the crisis across the country is deepening.
Sarkar in his speech analysed the current situation of the country and the state as well and said, “The unemployment rate is rising at a very alarming rate in the country, whereas Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the year of 2014 assured of offering 2 crore jobs in a year. In addition to this starting from the general workers, labourers, migrating labourers till the farmers, all are reeling under crisis due to the job crisis.”
Unemployment and inflation are at an all time high after the Modi government came to power, he said.
“The country is reeling under a very complex situation which started since demonetisation. After getting detached from the people this BJP government, which is worried of mass movement by the agitated people across the country, is now trying to create division among the people of different communities, where the minorities are largely attacked and deprived,” Sarkar alleged.
Sarkar urged the workers of the Tripura Hawkers’ Union to intensify their fight against the BJP government, which perhaps also brought an attack on the constitution of the country.
