Agartala, May 05: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday talked to his Manipur counterpart N. Biren Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah regarding safety of the state’s students in view of the emerging situation in the north-eastern state.
Dr. Saha also talked to the guardians of the students, who are now in Manipur, at his official residence on Friday evening. Some of the guardians also talked to the Manipur Chief Minister. They were assured that the students were safe. He appealed to the guardians not to worry.
The Chief Minister in a social media post also mentioned that his government was considering a plan to take the state’s students back for the time being.
Dr Saha also held a meeting with the Chief Secretary J K Sinha, the DGP Amitabh Ranjan, and the secretaries of relevant departments to discuss the current situation of the students of Tripura studying at RIMS and Central Agricultural University in Manipur. The DGP and the representatives of the central forces present at the meeting informed the Chief Minister that the ‘situation was under control’.
It was also mentioned that all necessary security measures had already been taken for the safety of the students of Tripura in Manipur in these two institutions. “There is no such threat for the students of Tripura in Manipur. Efforts have been made to keep in touch with the parents of the students by the state government.

Apart from this, the state government is also in contact with the students studying in Manipur.
Meanwhile, Secretary of ICA Dr. P.K. Chakraborty in a press conference said around 200 state’s students are studying Engineering, Medical and Agriculture in Manipur. He also appealed to all not to pay attention to any rumour. Besides, Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha also talked to his Manipur counterpart regarding the issue.
