Massive fire destroys residential house in Joynagar, Agartala

A devastating fire broke out in Joynagar Chakra Sangha area of the capital city, on Monday, completely gutting an old residential house.

The property, owned by Gobinda Pal—currently residing in Kolkata—was occupied by tenants at the time of the incident.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire was first noticed due to intense heat and loud banging sounds, prompting nearby residents to alert authorities. Three fire engines were deployed to the scene and battled the blaze for nearly an hour before bringing it under control.

Despite the efforts, fire personnel confirmed that nothing could be salvaged from the house. The inferno caused extensive damage, including the destruction of vehicles such as a car and a scooter.

“We tried our best to control the fire,” said one firefighter. “Unfortunately, the flames were too intense, and the entire residence was lost.”

However, no casualties have been reported so far and investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.

Meanwhile, the incident has left the local community shaken, highlighting the urgent need for enhanced fire safety awareness in densely populated residential zones.
