Meeting held for post-Covid revival of Tripura tourism sector

Agartala, May 8: Tripura Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury presided over a meeting with representatives from various tour operators and organizations involved in the hotel and resort business to discuss the revival of the state's tourism industry, which was severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The meeting, which was held at the Gitanjali State Tourist Guest House in Agartala, aimed to find ways to promote the state's tourist destinations to both domestic and international travellers.
During the meeting, Chowdhury emphasized the importance of developing the tourism industry in Tripura for the benefit of employment and livelihood. He instructed representatives from various organizations to take necessary steps to ensure that tourists have access to the desired services during their visit. The Minister also stressed the need for proper coordination with the state tourism department to manage the activities of tour operators and guarantee the safety and satisfaction of tourists.
Furthermore, the Minister highlighted the significance of eco-tourism and event-based tourism in the state, and the need for branding and provision of good transportation to attract more visitors. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining the natural beauty of tourist destinations and ensuring a comfortable and safe environment for tourists. Pointing out that the idea that tourists are rich persons is a misconception, he urged the representatives to offer low-cost services to tourists,
The discussions revolved around developing specific plans to tap into the potential of the tourism industry in the state and how to make it more attractive to visitors.
The meeting was attended by several officials from the Tourism Department, including Secretary Uttam Kumar Chakma and Director Tapan Kumar Das, along with representatives from various organizations involved in the hotel and resort business.
