The overwhelming gratitude we received last year echoed the spirit of togetherness. In 2025, we have expanded this initiative so that the festive light shines brighter and reaches further—embracing every household with the essence of Sharadotsav, said Minister Sushanta Chowdhury as he handed over free ration items to beneficiaries under Sharadotsav 2025 Scheme.
Â
The Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs inaugurated the free ration distribution program in Agartala’s Fair Price Shop No. 148 at Milan Chakra area on Wednesday.Â
Â
The scheme provides 2 kg flour, 1 kg sugar, and 500 grams of semolina per ration card, completely free of cost.
Â
Speaking at the event, Minister Chowdhury said, "Sharadotsav is a time of joy and togetherness. Through this initiative, we want every household—especially those who rely on ration support—to feel included in the celebrations. This is not just about food, it's about dignity and festive spirit".
Â
He emphasized the government's commitment to supporting economically vulnerable families and ensuring that no one is left behind during the festive season.
Â
The Minister further noted that nearly 9.90 lakh ration card-holding families will benefit from this scheme. The government is spending Rs 7 crore to ensure that no one is left out of the celebrations.
Â
The event witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including Badharghat MLA Mina Rani Sarkar, Director of the Food Department Sumit Lodh, and Sadar Sub-Divisional Magistrate Manik Lal Das.
