Minor missing since January, HC to hear Habeas Corpus writ on Wednesday

Tripura High Court has fixed the hearing of a Habeas Corpus writ petition related to the disappearance of a minor girl from Kailashahar, the district headquarters of Unakoti district on Wednesday. 

The mother of the missing girl who had been untraceable since January 2026 moved the court with her petition, advocate Debalaya Bhattacharjee who is representing her, said. 

According to available information, the minor girl eloped earlier as well but she was rescued and reunited with her family members. Later , she eloped again in January 2026 and since then she was untraceable. 

“The parents of the missing girl lodged police complaints with the local police station but no clue regarding her whereabouts could be traced. This is why the parents of the victim moved the High Court and filed a Habeas Corpus writ,” sources said. 

The matter will be heard by the division bench of Justice T Amarnath Goud and Justice S Datta Purkayastha.
