
Police on Sunday rescued five minor girls from a hotel along the VIP Road under the Airport police station area in Agartala.
According to the police, the minors, reportedly from Kanchanpur subdivision in North Tripura district, were recovered from Hotel Debraj in the Natunnagar area during a search operation carried out on the basis of specific intelligence inputs. The girls were later brought to the Airport police station for preliminary inquiry.
Kanchanpur police station officer-in-charge Srikanta Rudrapal said they had received information about three minor girls from the area who had gone missing earlier. “We have a missing diary registered in connection with the disappearance of three hostel students from Kanchanpur. We have also been informed that five minors were rescued from a hotel in Agartala by the Airport police. After completing the initial formalities, they will be handed over to Kanchanpur police for further investigation,” he said.
Speaking on the issue, OC Airport Police Station Abhijit Mandal said, “We have received information from the Kanchanpur police station about the missing complaint of five minor girls. After location tracking, it was found that they had arrived at the hotel. During preliminary quizzing they said that they came to visit Agartala city. We have handed them over to the officials of the Kanchanpur police station.”
All the minor girls were inmates of the same girls hostel. Â
