Tension gripped the premises of Dharmanagar District Hospital on Tuesday morning after the body of a tribal woman was recovered from the hospital’s toilet under mysterious circumstances.
Â
The deceased has been identified as Basanti Reang, a resident of Monachhara village in Kedarachhara and wife of Banamali Reang. She had been admitted to the hospital on April 12 with gynecological complications and was undergoing treatment.
Â
Family members alleged that Basanti went missing from her hospital bed around 10 PM on April 13. Despite frantic searches by her husband and relatives, she could not be traced. Shockingly, her lifeless body was discovered inside the hospital toilet the following morning.
Â
Police from the Dharmanagar Women’s Police Station rushed to the spot, recovered the body, and sent it to the hospital morgue for post-mortem examination. Officials stated that the exact cause of death will be determined after autopsy, following which the body will be handed over to the family.
Â
The incident has triggered widespread concern and speculation. Questions are being raised about how a patient could vanish from her ward and later be found dead within the hospital premises. The atmosphere around the hospital remains tense, with locals demanding accountability.
Â
Police have launched an investigation, stressing that only after the inquiry will the truth behind the mysterious death be revealed.
