National Lok Adalat held in Tripura

Agartala Nov 12: National Lok Adalat was held on Saturday in all the district and sub-divisional magistrate courts in addition to the Tripura High Court where the Courts started working from 10 am in the morning.
A total of 6,557 cases were taken up for disposal in 54 benches. This includes 5,229 cases related to pre-litigation disputes and 1,328 cases pending in the Court.
National Lok Adalat had 4,229 cases related to repayment of bank loans, 202 motor accident compensation cases, 4 cases relating to land acquisition, 1,000 cases relating to unpaid bills of telecom corporations, 859 cases related to arbitrary criminal disputes, 98 cases related to matrimonial disputes, 91 related to cheque bounce. Besides, 51 lawsuits and other civil cases were also taken up for disposal.
Jumili Debbarma, District Secretary, West District Legal Services Authority detailed the media about the cases taken up in the National Lok Adalat adding that 12 benches sat in the Agartala Court premises.
Meanwhile, a single bench sat in the Tripura High Court where 27 cases were taken up for disposal in this bench.
Besides, there was a help desk for citizens in the court premises and paralegal volunteers assisted people who were served notices at the court premises.
