Agartala, Nov 16: Rajya Sabha MP from Tripura Biplab Kumar Deb urged the media to focus on the positive issues so that reporting about the State creates a positive image of the State among outsiders.
“News should be published from the perspective of maintaining a positive image of the state to the readers of outside the state, especially those who come to the state from outside,” he said.
Deb was interacting with the senior journalists and media persons at his official residence in Agartala on National Press Day on Wednesday.
During the discussion, Deb dwelt on several issues including the emerging political situation in the run-up to the 2023 Assembly Polls.
He appeared confident about performing well in the Janajati-dominated seats in the ensuing election. Deb told the media that a special attempt would be taken to woo the new voters.
He said, “There are a total of 2.5 lakh new voters enlisted in the state electoral rolls and our target is to reach them and woo them by interacting with them.”
Deb also highlighted several initiatives of the State government relating to the growth and welfare of the common people. He claimed that a total of 5 lakh new job opportunities have been created in the state since the BJP came to power in 2018.
Moreover, he pointed out that the State received more awards for MNREGA implementation during his tenure as the Chief Minister.
