NEP’s goal is to strengthen base of primary education, says Ratan

Agartala, Nov 18: Education minister Ratanlal Nath on Friday said the New Education Policy- 2020 has been launched with an objective to strengthen the foundation of the primary education.
Nath, who launched the logo and website of NIPUN Tripura at a programme in Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan, Agartala, said the present state government is working to develop the education system with the vision of ‘read to learn and learn to read’.
In the programme, the Education Minister also launched Mukul Tripura scheme and Vidyasetu Module. Secretary of Social Welfare and Social Education department- Abhishek Singh, secretary of School Education department Saradindu Chowdhury, SCERT director N.C. Sharma and others were present in the programme.
NIPUN Tripura is a scheme for Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) with focus on the children in 3 to 8 years age groups-- Nursery to Class-III.
The National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy (NIPUN) has been launched with priorities and actionable agendas to achieve the goal.
Mission Mukul is a joint initiative of the School Education department and the Social Welfare and Social Education department; it would focus on the Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE) in accordance with the National Education Policy.
Under this scheme, taking topography, communication and other allied factors into consideration, 2-3 AWCs would be tied up with nearby government schools which would be treated as Nodal School for the purpose-- emphasise on pre-school education of the children in the age group of 3-6 years. As of now 29 schools have been linked with the nearest schools.
