Agartala, Jan 09: The class of ‘97 from NIT Agartala (the erstwhile Tripura Engineering College) will hold their grand reunion on January 14. It is their silver jubilee celebrations in actuality but deferred by a year because of the pandemic.
The teenage boys and girls who had once met in pursuit of engineering degrees have been carried away by the hands of time. Most of them now have teenage children of their own. But on the night of Saturday, January 14, they will become teenagers themselves.
After 30 long years, they will fly from different corners of the world to be together again. And not many things can influence human behaviour how friends from college can. So this really is an evening that everyone is looking forward to.
To add to the vibe, the core committee—comprising Tapas Marak, Tapas Barua, Bijon Debbarma, Satyabratra Bhattacharya, Madan Modak, and Dwaijapada Saha— is bringing Mumbai-based singer Tirthankar Poddar.
Tirthankar, who is known mononymously as 2Blue, is from the class of ’97 himself. Together with his sensational rock band, Poddar is all set to soundtrack this special milestone.
“I can’t say it’s my pleasure because honestly, it’s my privilege. These are the people I have laughed and cried with. We have been in the foxhole together. To be able to come back to them to do what I love is more special to me than my words can express. It’s emotional. My arms are open, my heart is open. I just can’t wait to see my friends again,” says the 47-year-old rocker.
