North Tripura DM felicitates winners of 'Youth Voter Selfie Contest' in Dharmanagar

In a bid to encourage youth participation in the democratic process, District Magistrate and Collector Chandni Chandran, IAS, presented awards to the top five winners of the recently held “Ink Lagao, Selfie Lo” contest, organized in connection with the bye-election of the 56 Dharmanagar Assembly Constituency.

Speaking at the felicitation ceremony, DM Chandran explained that the contest was designed to motivate young voters to actively engage in the electoral process. “The aim was to inspire the youth to cast their votes and celebrate their participation in democracy,” she said.

The winners of the contest were: Nilanjana Bhattacharjee, Tamashree Sen, Sneha Choudhury, Amrita Sinha and Nabajit Das.

The initiative, combining creativity with civic responsibility, sought to make voting more appealing to first-time and young voters by encouraging them to share selfies after casting their ballots.

Officials noted that such campaigns are part of a broader effort to strengthen voter awareness and ensure higher turnout, especially among younger demographics. The felicitation ceremony highlighted the importance of innovative outreach in building a more participatory electoral culture in Tripura.
