Agartala, Jan 24: Tripura Police on Tuesday arrested a person along with a pistol and ammunition in his possession from Chinaihani area under Airport police station.

The arrestee- Biman Das is a resident of Gandhigram area under West Tripura district, police said.

The recovery of pistol during Naka checking ahead of the assembly elections triggered huge sensation.

Police said, one factory made Pistol with two magazines, 46 rounds (7.62mm) were seized from his possession. Two vehicles were also seized during the checking.

According to the police, a separate case was registered against him in West Agartala Police station on arms act.

A police statement said, “today evening during Naka checking at Chenaihani jointly by Airport PS staff, Sikkim Armed Police, TSR and SST team arrested Biman Das of Gandhigram and seized one factory made Pistol with two magazines, 46 rounds (7.65 mm) from his possession. Also seized two vehicles. A specific case is being registered in Airport PS.”
