The online process for admission in general degree colleges would commence from July 25 and continue till September 17, Education minister Ratanlal Nath said on Friday.
Addressing a press conference at the Civil Secretariat, he said, the semester examinations in all colleges under Tripura University would start from July 25 and continue till August 29 while the examinations in MBB College and BBMC College under the MBB University would continue from August 3 to August 29.
The Education minister said, several new subjects would be introduced in Government Degree Colleges from this year.
NCC subject for 30 seats would be introduced at Women’s College, Agartala, NCC for 30 seats and Botany Honours for 30 seats would be introduced in Ramthakur College, NCC for 30 seats in Government Degree College (Khumulwng), Geography for 20 seats, Philosophy for 20 seats, Economics for 20 seats and Physical Education for 20 seats would be introduced at Swami Vivekananda Mahavidyalaya (Mohanpur), NCC for 30 seats in Rabindranath Thakur Mahavidyalaya (Bishalgarh), Botany for 20 seats, Zoology for 20 seats, Human Physiology for 20 seats and all subjects of Bio-Science (pass) would be introduced in Teliamura Degree College, NCC for 30 seats in Kamalpur Degree College, English Honours for 20 seats and Physical Education for 30 seats would be introduced in Gandacherra Degree College, English Honours for 40 seats and NCC for 30 seats in L.T. Valley Degree College, NCC for 30 seats in Ramkrishna Mahavidyalaya (Kailashahar), Commerce for 30 seats and NCc for 30 seats would be introduced in Ambedkar College (Fatikroy), NCC for 30 seats in Dharmanagar Degree College, English Honours for 20 seats, Education Honours for 20 seats and Philosophy Honours for 10 seats would be included in Kanchanpur Degree College, NCC for 30 seats in each of Sonamura, Udaipur, Amarpur and Belonia Degree Colleges and English Honours for 20 seats in Santirbazar Degree College, the Education Minister said.
According to Nath, a new English Medium College would be introduced in Agartala (SCERT building) with English, Bengali, Sociology, Economics, Political Science and History subjects for 50 seats each.
The state government is contemplating a plan to introduce more colleges, the Education minister said, adding that all the students would get opportunities for admission in different colleges but some may not get admission in the colleges of their choice.
Replying to a query, Nath said, a process for recruitment of twenty Principals and more professors is already underway. “We are expecting posting of more teachers in Colleges before Durga Puja,” Nath told the media.
