Agartala, Sept 22: Footballers of Tripura are worried. They are not worried about the opposition. Worry about the torrential rain. The sky has been covered in black since practice on Thursday morning. It started raining in torrents from morning to afternoon. As a result, the ground becomes slippery.
Now let's see how much the Marina Jamatia can fight against Manipur on that slippery field. Manipur is the opponent of Tripura Sport School in the quarter finals of on Friday at 3 pm in Under-17 Girls' Subrata Mukherjee Cup Football held in Delhi. The match will start at 3 pm that day at Ambedkar Stadium.
Footballers were given rest on Wednesday. Thursday was supposed to practice twice. Tripura girls practiced in a local park in the morning but could not practice in the afternoon due to rain.
Coach Kalpana Debbarma and manager Sushanta Debbarma had a long discussion about the Manipur match with the footballers in the afternoon despite not being able to practice. The coach and manager have tried to take away the scenes of Manipur slaughter.
Tripura team manager Sushanta Debbarma said over the phone from Delhi, "Our concern is not the opposition, but the wet and slippery pitch. If the girls can adjust themselves and maintain what they have played in the first two matches, we will win against Manipur. Mentally the whole team is strong now. Everyone is hopeful of a win against Manipur."
