Our duty is to build a Self-Reliant India: Tripura Agriculture Minister

Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratanlal Nath on Saturday hoisted the national flag at the Tripura Secretariat grounds, marking the 80th Independence Day with a call to safeguard the nation and commit to building a developed, self-reliant India by 2047.

Inspecting the ceremonial parade of security forces, the Minister reminded citizens that freedom is not just an achievement but an enduring responsibility. “It is our duty to protect the country with our lives, to identify enemies of independence, and to pledge for a strong, self-reliant India,” Nath said, adding that the tricolour once again touching the sky serves as a reminder of both past glory and future promise.

He emphasised that the spirit of independence must extend across every sector—from agriculture fields to electricity grids—where collective effort can shape a resilient and prosperous nation. “Independence binds our history of sacrifice with our vision for progress,” he noted, urging citizens to carry forward the legacy of freedom fighters through unity and dedication.

The Secretariat grounds resonated with patriotic fervour as the Minister exchanged greetings with security personnel after the parade. The day’s programme reflected reverence for the national flag and a collective resolve to uphold sovereignty, integrity and democratic values.
