Agartala, Jan 22: The senior CPI(M) leader and the former minister of the then left front government Pabitra Kar expressed his confidence of taking on the ruling BJP party in the 3-Bamutia assembly constituency and win big in the ensuing assembly election.
Pabitra Kar led a CPI(M)’s rally on Sunday at Bamutia assembly constituency, which started from Fatikcherra and ended at Jubatara area.
“People had witnessed large scale violence of the BJP party during the last five years here in Bamutia, which has no difference in other parts of the state. Some of our party offices were bull-dozed, while others were illegally and forcefully encroached by the BJP party since 2018,” he told reporters on Sunday.
In context of the joint rally held on Saturday last by the CPI(M) and the Congress, Pabitra Kar said, “The joint rally by the Congress and the CPI(M) which slogged for My Vote My Right evoked massive response from all walks of life.”
“All the anti-BJP people and forces who are in support of saving democracy which is at stake in the hands of the BJP joined the rally on Saturday here at Agartala city. This itself cites the example of how people are approaching closer to oust the BJP from power in the ensuing assembly election,” he said.
He however castigated the BJP and alleged that since 2018 every election held in the state of Tripura was turned into a farce, where people were restricted from casting their votes, while the present Chief Minister could win the by-election with a proxy vote.
“But, this time the way people are responding to stand against the BJP, we believe that the people of this state in large numbers will be able to cast their votes, while the election commission is also ensuring us to conduct free and fair polls,” he said.
