Charilam, Jul 28: Education is the backbone of a nation and the students are the future of the country. Therefore, along with the teachers, parents also have to play an important role in nation building, said Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Thursday.

Nath was Addressing a felicitation programme at Laxmicherra Ramkrishna Higher Secondary School in Golaghati under the West district.

During the programme, Nath felicitated Sagar Roy of Kanchanmala area who secured the first rank in the state in the Higher Secondary examination, 2022.

Apart from the felicitation programme, Nath inaugurated a new building of the Science Laboratory in the school.

In order to make the environment greener, the school administration also initiated a tree plantation programme after the felicitation programme.

Local MLA Birendra Kishore Debbarma, Dukli Panchayat Samiti Chairman Ajoy Kumar Das, West District Zilla Parishad president Antara Sarkar Deb, Chairman of the School Management Committee Bikash Bhowmik and others were present at the programme.
