The VIP Road near Agartala Airport was once again in the spotlight after a shocking incident of vehicle abduction and robbery on Wednesday afternoon.
Â
According to reports, a Sonamura-bound Eco car carrying passengers was intercepted by a group of miscreants at Kathaltali area under Airport Police Station. The attackers allegedly forced the vehicle into a deserted spot, where they looted cash and mobile phones, brutally assaulted the passengers and driver, and vandalized the car before releasing them.
Â
The victims, after escaping the ordeal, rushed to Airport Police Station along with their families to lodge a complaint. Narrating the incident to the media, they said the attack occurred while returning after dropping air passengers, and the gang carried out the entire operation in a pre-planned manner.
Â
Newly appointed Officer-in-Charge Sushanta Deb assured the victims that the case is being personally monitored and promised that the culprits would be brought under the ambit of law.

The brazen attack has sparked concern among locals and travelers, highlighting the need for tighter security measures along the VIP Road — a stretch that has repeatedly made headlines for such incidents.
