Agartala Sept 20: Alleging irregularities in disbursement of stipend amount, a group of students on Wednesday met the Director of SC Welfare.

Speaking to the reporters, the students said, “Majority of us belong to poor families and are studying B.Ed outside the state while tackling a lot of hardships. But the most painful part is that the state government and the concerned department are not paying us our stipend or scholarship amount on time”.

One of the students Rakesh Das said, “It has been more than three months that we have not received the stipend and many of us have taken loans to complete the course. Besides, the college authorities are putting constant pressure on us to clear the fees”.

The students however mentioned that the Additional Secretary and Director for Welfare of Scheduled Castes, Asim Saha has said that the department will release the pending stipend amount by October 10, next.
