People happy with BJP's decision for solo fight in ADC polls: CM

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday said that the people in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) are happy with the Bharatiya Janata Party’s decision to contest alone in all 28 seats, as the public wanted a strong and clear alternative in the upcoming election.

Addressing a massive public rally at Kathalia Bazar under the Birchandranagar- Kalsi constituency in support of BJP candidate Sanjeev Reang, the Chief Minister claimed that the mood in ADC areas is firmly in favour of BJP and that the party is set to form the next council government.

He alleged that while voting should take place in a festive atmosphere, Tipra Motha is trying to create fear and tension. The Chief Minister warned people to remain alert and not fall into any trap of intimidation or misinformation.

Dr. Saha further accused Tipra Motha of failing to deliver any development work during its five-year tenure in ADC and alleged that corruption has been the only outcome of their rule.

He claimed that funds meant for tribal welfare were misused, and people are now determined to respond through democratic means.

He urged the voters to remain fearless and united and to vote for the BJP on April 12.

During the rally, in the presence of Finance Minister Pranajit Singh Roy, the Chief Minister welcomed around 50 voters into the BJP.

Earlier in the day, addressing another election meeting at Halahali- Asharambari constituency at Behalabari, Dr. Saha said that if BJP comes to power in ADC, the face of tribal areas will change completely. He stressed that the council needs leadership that understands the problems of the poor and works sincerely for their upliftment.

He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that the Prime Minister is always committed to tribal development and understands the issues faced by the weaker sections.

Taking a sharp dig at Tipra Motha, Dr. Saha claimed that after the election results on April 17, “Motha will not be found anywhere.” He alleged that despite claiming to be a party of the poor, Motha leaders are campaigning in helicopters, which he said is funded through money looted from the poor.

In a separate rally at Kalacherra Motor Stand, organised in support of Abhijit Tripura, BJP candidate from Purba Muhuripur- Bhuratali constituency in South Tripura, the Chief Minister said Tipra Motha’s exit from ADC is certain due to corruption and false promises.

He accused the party of trying to mislead people through violence and hooliganism and alleged that in several areas shops were forced to shut down before public meetings. “Kicking someone’s livelihood is not acceptable,” he said.

Dr. Saha also criticised the practice of branding those joining BJP as brokers, and questioned why Tipra Motha is unable to retain its own supporters.

He said the BJP’s tribal wing has strengthened within just three months despite alleged blackmailing attempts, and has taken the bold decision to contest alone in all 28 seats.

The Chief Minister once again appealed to voters to create history on April 12 by voting in large numbers and ensuring a BJP victory in the ADC elections.
