Pharmacy College rising in Matabari with Rs 70 Crore investment; MLA Abhishek Debroy visits site

Matabari in Tripura is set to witness a major boost in higher education with the construction of a state-of-the-art Pharmacy College at Chandrapur. The project, being developed under the banner of “Milestone,” is spread across nearly 1,18,900 square feet and has already drawn an investment of around Rs 60–70 crore.

On Monday, Matabari MLA Abhishek Debroy visited the construction site along with officials of the proposed institution to review progress. During the inspection, Debroy said the college will function as a modern center for pharmaceutical studies, offering courses such as Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) and Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm).

The initiative comes in response to long-standing demands from residents of Matabari, who have sought a local college to reduce the need for students to travel outside the area for higher education. Debroy explained that an external organization had approached him with the proposal months ago, and construction was subsequently taken up to meet this need.

Built to international standards, the facility is expected to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha in the near future. Debroy expressed confidence that the Milestone Pharmacy College would emerge among the top five institutions of its kind in India, adding that the project will not only provide quality education locally but also generate employment opportunities for people in the region.

MLA Debroy further added, "The establishment of this institution marks a significant step in strengthening Tripura’s higher education infrastructure and also reflects the government’s focus on creating opportunities for youth while addressing long-standing community aspirations".
