Agartala June 05: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Monday took part in World Environment Day celebrations organized on behalf of the Agartala Municipal Corporation.

In presence of AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder, Corporators of different wards, the chief minister planted trees and also took part in a cleanliness drive in Maharajganj Bazar area.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Saha urged the common people across the state to take a pledge to stop use of plastic and plant more trees to keep the environment clean and maintain a harmony with the nature.

“The celebration of World Environment Day every year on June 5 is to give a message to the common people across the globe about the importance of nature and its health”, he said.

The chief minister further said, “All educational institutions, social organizations, clubs and youths must come forward to raise awareness on the solutions to plastic pollution and ecosystem restoration”.

He added that the common people are custodians of the planet and everyone must put equal efforts to build a better place together.
