PM Poshan: Tripura Govt hikes pay of cooks/ helpers

Agartala, Nov 25: The Tripura government has revised the pay of cooks and helpers working under PM Poshan scheme from Rs. 1500 to Rs. 2000.
Addressing a press conference at the civil secretariat, Minister for Education Ratanlal Nath said, around 11,107 cook cum helpers are working in various government, government-aided schools and Madrasas under the Education department.
They get monthly remuneration of Rs. 1500 each—the central government provides Rs. 900 and the state government shares Rs. 600.
“The state government has now decided to hike Rs. 500 in the remuneration of the cook cum helpers with effect from January 1, 2023. The state government’s share has increased from Rs. 600 to Rs. 1000. An additional expenditure of Rs. 5.55 crore will be required to implement the decision,” Nath told reporters.
He said, the PM Poshan scheme, earlier known as mid-day-meal scheme, covers as many as 3,99,086 students across the state.
The Education minister also said, a pilot project for providing breakfast to the school children under the scheme has been launched in Dhalai district.
