PMKVY 4.0: 300 engineer graduates to get advanced tech training, MoUs signed with IBM, HCL

The Directorate of Skill Development, Government of Tripura, on Monday launched IIT Delhi-led Advanced IT and Emerging Technology Skill Development Programmes under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 4.0 at NIT Agartala.

The programmes are being implemented in collaboration with the I-Hub Foundation for Cobotics (IHFC) and the Technology Innovation Hub (TIB) of IIT Delhi, officials said.

As part of the initiative, memoranda of understanding were signed with IBM and HCL to facilitate industry-linked training, live projects, internships and placement support for students in the state.

Under PMKVY 4.0, IIT Delhi will provide specialised training in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Blockchain, 5G and Internet of Things. The training will be conducted through classroom and laboratory sessions by IIT faculty members and industry professionals, officials said.

In the first phase, 300 engineering graduates will undergo training in collaboration with NIT Agartala, NIELIT Agartala, MSME Tool Room Agartala and Tripura University.

The programme was inaugurated by IIT Delhi Director Prof Rangan Banerjee, who said the initiative would help students in Tripura become employment-ready.

Secretary Industries and Commerce Department Kiran Gitte said the initiative was aimed at bridging the gap between education and industry requirements and preparing youth for national and global job markets.

Officials said the programme is part of efforts to strengthen advanced technology skill development in the state.
