Post-flood recovery: Centre approves Rs 252 cr for Tripura

The Central government has approved financial assistance of Rs 252 crore for recovery and reconstruction efforts following the devastating floods that struck the state in August 2024, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha announced on Friday.

The floods had caused extensive damage across several parts of the state, severely affecting critical infrastructure, public life and livelihoods.

Following the disaster, the Tripura government carried out a comprehensive Post Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) and submitted a detailed memorandum to the Government of India seeking support for rehabilitation and reconstruction measures.

As part of the approved assistance, the first instalment of Rs 75.60 crore was released on May 26, 2026 from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF), according to the Chief Minister.

The state government expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for extending support to the people of Tripura during the difficult period.

According to sources, the financial assistance would play a crucial role in rebuilding damaged infrastructure, accelerating development works and helping affected families restore normal life in the state.
