Pradesh Adivasi Congress delegations met central leadership on Constitution Day

Agartala Nov 29: A delegation of Pradesh Adivasi Congress met the central leadership in Delhi to present several pressing demands, on the eve of Constitution Day, November 26, 2024.
This significant meeting underscored the organization's commitment to advocating for constitutional amendments and the implementation of crucial legislation.
On Friday, a press conference was held at the Pradesh Congress Bhavan where Vice Chairman Atul Debbarma, Kali Mohan Jamatia, and General Secretary Jilim Kumar Reang addressed the media regarding the outcomes of their discussions with the central leadership.
Discussing the key issues raised with the central leadership, Pradesh Adivasi Congress leadership said, “The delegation emphasized the urgent need for the passage of the Constitution Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha. They stressed that this legislative change is essential for addressing various issues affecting the tribal communities. The leaders expressed optimism that this critical topic would be deliberated upon at the upcoming All India Congress Committee (AICC) meeting”.
“Another significant issue discussed was the implementation of the Forest Rights Act 2006. The delegation highlighted that there has been a lack of attention towards this Act, which is vital for protecting the rights of forest-dwelling communities. They urged the central leadership to prioritize the proper enforcement of this legislation to ensure justice and rights for these communities”, he said.
The leaders at the press conference reiterated their commitment to these causes and expressed hope for positive outcomes from their discussions.
