Pradyot's Call: 'Vote for the next generation'

Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Deb Barma placed the focus on the future of Tripura’s tribal communities as he cast his vote at Mandwi in West Tripura district during the ongoing Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections.

Speaking to reporters, Pradyot said that the election was not just about the present but about securing the rights of the next generation. “Whatever people choose, they will choose for their children and for the next generation. They will choose their rights, because that is essential for survival in the long run,” he stated.

Election officials reported that by 1 pm, voter turnout had already reached 65 percent. Pradyot welcomed the strong participation and expressed hope that turnout would rise further as the day progressed. “Tripura has always had a high turnout, and I am hoping for a peaceful election,” he said.

Pradyot also addressed concerns about political violence. He made it clear that his party does not rely on intimidation. “I have no need for goondas in politics,” he said. Referring to the recent Takarjala incident, he criticized the practice of giving tickets to individuals with criminal backgrounds, calling it “very unfortunate.” He added that he would make a detailed statement after the elections.

With results scheduled to be announced on April 17, Pradyot expressed confidence in the people of Tripura. “I am very hopeful. Let’s wait for April 17. I have faith in the people,” he said, underlining his belief that voters would act responsibly and with the future in mind.
