Pratima flags off new Agartala-Kolkata Weekly Train

Agartala May 17: Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhowmik flagged off a new fully air-conditioned train to run from Agartala to Kolkata here on Wednesday.
Speaking to the reporters on the occasion, Bhowmik hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi while citing the developmental pace in all the sectors under the double-engine government.
She said, “Indian Railways is the lifeline of the country. Not only in other states, but in Tripura and entire Northeast, rail connectivity has developed by leaps and bounds under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government”.
Taking pride on flagging off the new train Pratima said, “The new train is fully air-conditioned with 11 coaches that will ply between Agartala to Kolkata on a weekly basis and can be extended to 22 coaches seeing the demand”.
“Kolkata is a city next door for the people of Tripura, everyday large number of people from Tripura travel to Kolkata for some or other work and this new train will make their travel easy and affordable”, she added.
Bhowmik further said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji has been working for the development of the North East region since he assumed office as the Prime Minister on May 16, 2014. Yesterday he completed 9 years and our state got this much desired train as a gift”.
Pratima also extended her regards towards Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw for launching this train with state of the art facilities.
