Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha and former chief minister and BJP national general secretary Biplab Kumar Deb on Thursday attended a mega blood donation camp organised at Pragya Bhavan here as part of the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.
Deb, who represents the Tripura West Lok Sabha constituency, donated blood at the camp. Dr Saha inspected the facilities at the venue and interacted with blood donors before also donating blood at the event.
Speaking to reporters after donating blood, Deb highlighted Modi’s political career and his work for the country. He said Modi had worked for the people for a long period, first as chief minister and later as prime minister.
Deb said India was moving towards the goal of ‘Viksit Bharat’ under Modi’s leadership. He also referred to developments in the defence sector and said India was moving towards self-reliance, with warships, fighter aircraft and other defence equipment being manufactured domestically.
Referring to the Digital India initiative, Deb said digital services that were once difficult for many people to imagine had become accessible to ordinary citizens through initiatives taken by the prime minister.
The blood donation camp was organised as part of various service-oriented programmes held in connection with the prime minister’s birthday. The organisers said the event sought to convey a message of standing by people through blood donation.
The programme was attended by Dr Saha and Deb, among others.
