PRTC no longer mandatory for govt jobs in Tripura but aspirants need 5 year schooling in state

The Tripura cabinet has decided that PRTC would no longer be mandatory for government jobs in the state. Instead, the job aspirants need to prove that they have studied for five consecutive years in any of the state's schools (from Class- I to XII).

The revision in the state government’s previous decision on PRTC for government jobs was announced by Tourism minister and cabinet spokesman Sushanta Chowdhury on Wednesday.

Speaking to the media at the Secretariat, Chowdhury said that following a case filed by a Delhi resident at the Tripura High Court, and the court directives for reconsideration on the PRTC issue, the decision was taken by the council of ministers.

Meanwhile, the state cabinet also approved proposals for recruitment in 552 vacant posts under various departments.

Chowdhury informed the media that 310 Junior Engineers, Grade (A) and Grade V (B) would be recruited through the TPSC.

The Junior Engineers Grade V (A) posts include Civil- 169, Mechanical- 8 and Electrical- 18. Besides, Junior Engineer Grade V (B) posts include Civil- 104, Mechanical 5 and Electrical 6. All applicants should have Diploma in the respective stream.

In addition, through JRBT, 185 posts of Junior Pump Operator (Group-C) will be filled under the DWS Department. Applicants must be qualified with Madhyamik pass and ITI pass certificates.

Further, in the College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, 57 faculty positions will be filled. For this, 17 Professors, 20 Associate Professors and Assistant Professors will be recruited through the TPSC.

The Minister further informed the media that the state government has decided to provide 2.5 Ganda land in Agartala to the gold medal winner at the Commonwealth Games Asmita Dey.  The state government will also pay Rs. 33,50,239 as allotment premium.

The cabinet also decided to set up fire stations at Boxanagar, Manu Bankul, Garji and Ganganagar. The GA (Political) department has been providing various grants to the families of ex-servicemen. The cabinet has decided to increase this grant.
