Kumarghat/ Kailashahar, Nov 21: Education minister Ratanlal Nath on Monday said quality education is one of the top priorities of the state government.
“Education is the strongest weapon and the state government has taken various steps to ensure quality education to the students,” Nath said in a programme.
The Education minister inaugurated a public library at Fatikroy, newly-built science lab at Fatikroy HS School and new two-storied building of East Kanchanbari HS School in Kumarghat.
Nath said, 27 public libraries are there in the state and a plan is in the pipeline to introduce such facilities in all sub-divisions. The new public library at Kumarghat started its journey with 2435 books.
Speaking in the programme, the Education minister advised the guardians to send their children to libraries along with schools and colleges. He also spoke on various welfare activities initiated by the state government.
He also announced that Saidacherra SB School would soon be transformed into an English Medium school. He also handed over the necessary papers to the Headmistress of the school.
MLA Sudhangshu Das, who also joined the inaugural programme, said the new public library fulfilled the long-standing demand of the people of the region.
Chief Librarian of Birchandra Central Library- Dilip Kumar Das delivered the welcome address. Sabhadhipati of Unakori Zilla Parishad Amalendu Das, Pradhan of Fatikroy Gram Panchayat and District Education Officer Prashanta Kilikdar were present.
The Education Minister also laid foundation stone for the new building of Dalugaon HS School at Kailashahar sub-division. MLA Sudhangshu Das, SDM Kailashahar Pradip Sarkar, Headmaster of the school Sunil Debbarma and Pradhan of Bilaspur Gram Panchayat Ratanmani Sarkar among others were present.
In the programme, the Education minister also had interactions with the students. Meanwhile, the new building of the school would be built at a cost of Rs. 13 crore.
