Rains continue to cripple normal life: 300 houses damaged, 2500+ people shifted to relief camps in Tripura

Torrential rainfall in the past 24 hours threw normal life out of gear in several locations of Tripura, creating flood-like situation and causing damages to a good number of houses.

As per the latest inputs received from the State Emergency Operation Centre, as many as 2589 flood-affected people were shifted to 22 relief camps across Dhalai and Khowai districts.

The heavy rainfall caused landslides at several locations across the Khowai and Dhalai districts, damaging road infrastructures. Besides, several major rivers were flowing above the expected flood level.

In Khowai, 1402 people were shifted to 9 relief camps and in Dhalai district, the number of relief camps is 13 with 1187 inmates.

The local administration has taken necessary initiatives to facilitate the people in the relief camps with essential supplies.

The report said, 300 houses suffered damages due to the heavy rainfall in the two districts—44 fully damaged, 77 severely damaged and 179 partly damaged.

According to official sources, the administration is closely monitoring the situation and extending necessary support.

In a latest development, 70 people from 17 families were shifted to relief camps at Kanchanpur of North Tripura district.

According to reports pouring in from various parts of the state, the electricity supply was badly disrupted and agricultural lands suffered severe damages.
