Rajib recalls BJP's 2018 victory, eight years of governance

BJP Tripura Pradesh president and Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee on Tuesday said the party completed eight years in power in the state, marking the anniversary of the formation of the first BJP-led government in 2018.

In a statement issued on the occasion, Bhattacharjee said the BJP came to power on March 3, 2018, ending the prolonged rule of the Left Front in Tripura. He expressed gratitude to party workers for their role in securing the party’s victory in the 2018 Assembly elections.

He said the BJP-led government had been working for the welfare of the people over the past eight years. Referring to the party’s organisational presence, Bhattacharjee said the BJP had expanded its foothold  from the Panchayat level to Parliament.

The state BJP president said the “double engine” government — referring to the BJP being in power both at the Centre and in the state — was working with the objective of achieving a “Viksit Tripura”.

Bhattacharjee said various welfare schemes had been implemented during the BJP’s tenure, targeting beneficiaries including women, youth and farmers. He said the government had introduced programmes aimed at socio-economic development and improving delivery of benefits to eligible sections.

The BJP formed its first government in Tripura in 2018 after winning the Assembly elections, bringing an end to 25 years of Left Front rule in the state. The party returned to power in the subsequent Assembly elections held in 2023.
