Agartala Feb 03: Claiming himself as a founder-member of BJP in Tripura Minister Ram Prasad Paul on Friday raised stern allegations against the CPIM-Congress for ‘disrupting peace’ in Surjyamani Nagar assembly constituency.
In a press conference called by the incumbent minister of Fire and Emergency services and MLA of Surjyamani Nagar seat, he said, “Every political party has the right to campaign in a democratic country and neither me or the BJP party is against it. But if the intentions of opposition is to malign my image we cannot keep silent”.
“From the time I took the charge of an MLA from Surjyamani Nagar area, people here are living with peace and harmony despite of any political colour, caste creed or religion. The party karyakartas are also working tirelessly to serve the people of this area”, said Paul.
Criticizing the opposition Ram Prasad said, “Soon after the announcement of Left-Congress alliance, a conspiracy is hatched against me to tarnish my image. COIM state secretary Jiten Choudhury wrote letter to the CEO and also filed an FIR against me claiming that I made threatening remarks against the opposition”.
“An enquiry was carried out by the commission as well as by the police administration but nothing came out in their favour of allegations because the allegations were completely false and baseless”, he added.
Clearing his stand, Paul said, “I was addressing a meeting of party karyakartas at Dukli area under Surjyamani Nagar assembly constituency and was motivating the karyakartas to work in view of the ensuing elections as I have the right to do so. But cutting out a clipping of few seconds, the opposition tried to create some other story”.
Notably, the video footage where Ramprasad Paul was heard asking his karyakartas ‘to resist the opposition forces from campaigning in Surjyamani Nagar area mentioning that no outsider will be allowed here’ went viral in the social media platforms.
Friday, Ram Prasad Paul alleged that the CPIM- Congress senior leaders are backing party activists who are trying to create a chaotic situation in the assembly area.
Paul who is contesting the polls on a BJP ticket from Surjyamani Nagar seat also announced a mass public outreach program to be held at Amtali School grounds in coming days adding that at least 20,000 people will join the program.
