Agartala, March 16: The ruling BJP MLA Ramprasad Paul on Thursday expressed his concern over some ‘fake’ media reports against him over quitting the BJP party and claimed that he had no connection with such reports which went viral in some social media platforms.
“During the last few days there has been an attempt to defame me in my party level. Some people are hatching propaganda by stating that I am quitting the BJP party and that I had a meeting with some leaders of oppositions,” he said.
Addressing a press conference at his residence on Thursday, the MLA said, “Some people who are in an attempt to defame me and framed fake media reports against me saying that I am preparing to join other parties. Those fake media reports had gone viral on some social media platforms, which drew my attention.”
“Some may join or some may quit the BJP party based on their likes or dislikes, but I had joined BJP in the year 1982 and I am not one of those who are in the process of switching over their party. During the last 35 years I have been working for the BJP party with honesty and accordingly I achieved people’s respect,” he claimed.
He said, “I warn those people who are attempting to defame me in my party by such fake media propaganda reports.”
On the other hand, on being asked about the cause of the resignation of the chairman of Dukli Panchayat Samiti Ajay Kumar Das, the BJP MLA said that he is not aware of the issue and he refused to make a comment on this.
The West district Panchayat officer B P Roy earlier in his memorandum on Wednesday sought enquiry of the resignation of Das.
