Kumarghat, April 13: Any person found guilty of power theft or any such illegal activities will be punished severely, said Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath.
Taking part in an administrative review meeting with the TSECL officials at Kumarghat on Thursday, Nath also said the state government is planning to start works for the development of the Rukhia and Dumboor power generation centres.
Along with the Minister, TSECL officials of three districts – North Unakoti and Dhalai – were present in the review meeting. The Power Minister is conducting review meetings in districts to ensure that people living in rural areas do not suffer from power crisis during the summer.
While addressing the media after the meeting, he said, “Those who are still using hook lines and involved in power theft must become alert now as the authority will take stern actions against them.” He added, “We are focusing on improving the electricity plants at Rukhia and Dumboor. The government is working hard to address the electricity crisis especially from the villages of the state.”
Even as several villages like Rajnagar, Fatikray and Ganga Nagar etc are regularly facing power outages due to the lack of available staff and adequate transport facilities in the local power supply offices, the Minister did not spare a word on the issue of infrastructural shortages. However, he said, “All powerhouses are lacking in transport facilities and vehicles are being provided only during the rainy seasons.”
His statement clearly mentioned that delay in attending calls relating to power faults is yet to be addressed.
