rbsk health drive conducted in kalyanpur schools to safeguard childrens well-being

In a significant step towards ensuring the health and well‑being of schoolchildren, the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) organised a comprehensive health screening programme in two schools of Kalyanpur—Ghilatli High School and Swarnajoy Choudhury Para High School.

The initiative, carried out by the RBSK Mobile Health Team (MHT) on Wednesday morning, aimed to detect congenital defects, nutritional deficiencies, and developmental disorders at the earliest stage.

At Ghilatli High School, students gathered with enthusiasm as doctors and health workers examined them for a wide range of conditions. A similar programme was conducted at Swarnajoy Choudhury Para High School under the National Birth Defects (NBD) Programme, where children underwent detailed physical assessments.

The screenings focused on identifying potential health complications such as congenital anomalies, growth delays, and nutritional gaps. Children requiring further medical attention were referred to specialised centres or expert physicians for advanced care.

The health drive was supervised by Dr. Tanvir Das and Dr. Debjyoti Das, who examined a large number of students throughout the day. In addition to medical checks, the doctors provided guidance on hygiene, nutrition, and preventive health practices, emphasising the importance of early detection in safeguarding long‑term health.

According to official figures from the Kalyanpur Health Department, a total of 68 students at Ghilatli High School and 49 students at Swarnajoy Choudhury Para High School were screened during the programme.

Teachers and parents welcomed the initiative, noting that such school‑based health drives often uncover hidden medical issues that might otherwise remain undiagnosed. Parents expressed relief that their children could undergo health checks without leaving the school premises, while teachers highlighted the importance of regular screenings in building a healthier future generation.

Observers stressed that many childhood health problems are not immediately visible but can be detected early through systematic screening. Programmes like RBSK play a crucial role in ensuring timely medical intervention, preventing long‑term complications, and promoting overall child welfare.
