Residential skill training begins for 55 surrender returnees in Tripura

 The Directorate of Skill Development (DSD), Tripura government, has commenced residential short-term skill development training programmes for 55 beneficiaries under the Returnees Rehabilitation Initiative at the Construction Workers Training Institute Tripura (CWTIT), Khumulwng.

The programme was inaugurated in the presence of West Tripura District Magistrate Dr Vishal Kumar, DSD Director Pradeep K, MDC Utpal Debbarma, CWTIT Principal Er Sumit Majumdar and Biswamohan Debbarma, besides officials, trainers and participating trainees.

The programmes are being implemented by the DSD and organised at CWTIT in coordination with the concerned training providers. They are aimed at providing practical, employment-oriented skills to the beneficiaries and supporting opportunities for employment, self-employment and sustainable livelihoods.

Two job roles are covered under the programme. The Self Employed Tailor course is being conducted by Tripura Small Industry Corporation Ltd (TSICL) for 25 candidates and has a training duration of 60 days.

The Brick Mason course is being conducted by CWTIT, Khumulwng, for 30 candidates and has a training duration of 75 days.

A total of 55 candidates are participating in the two residential programmes. The training is intended to equip the beneficiaries with practical skills and improve their opportunities for employment and self-employment.

The authorities have arranged accommodation, classrooms, practical training facilities, boarding and lodging and other logistical support at CWTIT for the smooth conduct of the programmes. Boarding and lodging facilities are being provided as per the approved norms of the DSD.

The Directorate has emphasised regular attendance, practical learning and quality training to enable the beneficiaries to use the skills acquired during the programmes for employment and self-employment.

The initiative is part of the government's efforts towards skill development, rehabilitation, livelihood generation and socio-economic empowerment of the beneficiaries, according to the release.
