Agartala, May 06: A high-level meeting was convened at the Agartala Municipal Corporation on Saturday relating to the road widening initiative at the GB Bazar and surrounding places. 

The meeting came up after a team consisting of Mayor Dipak Majumder and others went for a spot visit on Friday. During the visit, locals raised several issues relating to the widening of roads initiative in the GB Bazar area.

To discuss the issues and problems raised by the locals, a High-level meeting was held in which the Mayor, Assistant Commissioner of the AMC, SP Traffic, SDM Sadar and other stakeholders were present in the meeting.

Later speaking to the media, Mayor Dipak Majumder said, the road widening and beautification drive along GB Bazar to SDO Chowmuhani via 79 tila and GB to ITI will be undertaken. The road will be widened to 60 ft to ensure the free flow of traffic in the two stretches. Besides, GB Bazar will be made ‘modern’, Majumder said.

He also said Smart City Mission, PWD and AMC are jointly involved in the initiative. “In the meeting, we discussed the initiative in detail to ensure that the works can be completed without any obstruction. If anyone puts a hurdle, legal action will be taken against the person”, the Mayor said.
